Direct carrier rating APIs and platforms
Carrier Rater Integrations
BindPilot integrates directly with major carrier rating platforms and APIs to deliver comparative quotes.
Live Integrations
BindPilot currently rates the following carriers via their APIs:
| Carrier | Lines | Status | Response Time | |---------|-------|--------|----------------| | State Farm | HO, Auto, Umbrella | Live | 15–30s | | Travelers | HO, Auto, Commercial | Live | 20–40s | | GEICO | Auto, HO | Live (Limited) | 10–20s | | The General | Auto | Live | 15–25s | | Allstate | HO, Auto, Umbrella | Planning (Q2 2026) | — | | Liberty Mutual | All Lines | Planning (Q3 2026) | — |
Carrier APIs Used
Behind the scenes, BindPilot uses:
- Carrier Direct APIs — Direct integration with carrier rating engines
- PLRating — Third-party rating aggregator for multiple carriers
- ITC TurboRater — Workers Comp and specialty lines
- Custom SFTP/EDI — Some carriers require proprietary formats
You don't manage these directly; BindPilot handles the plumbing.
Real-Time Rating
When you click Shop All Carriers, BindPilot:
- Queries each carrier's rating API in parallel (not sequential)
- Sends risk data (client, property, coverage needs)
- Receives quote (premium, endorsements, limits)
- Aggregates results and ranks by premium + fit (30–60 seconds total)
If a carrier times out (>5 min), BindPilot marks as "Delayed" and retries in 5 minutes.
Planned Integrations (2026)
Q2 2026:
- Allstate API
- More P&C carriers (partnerships in discussion)
Q3 2026:
- Specialty carriers (E&O, professional liability)
- International carriers
2027:
- Health insurance (planned as separate product)
Manual Rating
For carriers not yet integrated, you can:
- Manual Quote — Go to carrier portal directly, get quote, enter premium in BindPilot
- Email Request — Email carrier; they respond with quote; you enter into BindPilot
- Phone Quote — Call carrier; record premium in BindPilot
BindPilot's comparative interface still shows your manual quotes side-by-side with API quotes.
Rating Accuracy
BindPilot rates based on:
- Risk information you enter (address, coverage, claims history)
- Carrier appetite settings (you configure)
- Current rate files (auto-updated monthly from carriers)
Accuracy caveats:
- Some carriers require underwriting review (rates quoted are preliminary)
- Manual underwriting riders (e.g., roofing, land use) may change final premium
- Quotes are typically good for 30 days; carrier may adjust upon binding
Always notify your client that final premium is subject to underwriting approval.
